What the word means here

Enterprise is the set of parts that exist so the machine keeps running when one of them fails.

Memory that corrects its own errors, and a board that will not boot with any other kind. A RAID controller with a flash-backed cache, so an acknowledged write survives a power cut. Drives that come out of the front while the system carries on. A management processor with its own port, so the console is there when the kernel is not. An enclosure with six power supplies and ten fans, fed from two feeds.

That is what we rack: HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen9 blades on the Xeon E5 line, Gen10 on the Xeon Scalable line, with Dell and Supermicro rack units where somebody needed one. Previous generations, priced as previous generations, every one under the same four-hour hardware guarantee as the newest machine in the building. When you were younger you wanted the latest processor; the machine you want running your business is the one nobody notices.

What owning one is actually like.

  1. Day 0 · 14:07

    You describe it. We build it, or hand you one already racked.

    The order form prices the exact build; nothing is a menu. A matching machine on the shelf is yours in about thirty minutes after the order clears review. One that is not is assembled to your specification in four to twenty-four hours, at the same price. Either way it arrives reinstalled with the operating system you chose from thirty-three, root or Administrator in your inbox; the iLO console is published from your dashboard the minute you add a console login.

  2. Week 1

    You put the work on it, and nothing of ours is in the way.

    Single tenant means both sockets, every DIMM, the RAID card and the port are yours. Bring your own ISO through iLO's virtual media if the thirty-three are not enough. Hypervisor hosts are the largest group of these machines; databases and application back ends come next. 128 GB is the size most of them chose.

  3. Month 7 · Tuesday · 02:14

    A drive fails. The machine does not notice, and neither do you until morning.

    RAID 1 on the Smart Array keeps serving from the surviving disk. You tell us by chat or phone; the service level agreement guarantees the replacement fitted within four hours of that message, and the ladder past four hours credits your month from 10% to 100%. The new disk goes into the front of the running blade, the array rebuilds, and the only record is a line in the iLO log.

  4. Month 9

    It gets bigger without moving.

    Sixteen DIMM slots and a form that starts you at 32 GB mean the memory can grow eight times over in the slot you already have. The second processor, more drives, a larger controller, a faster port: added to this machine, on this address. No migration window, no rebuild, no new IP to tell anybody about.

  5. Year 3

    Still running. Still the same number on the invoice.

    Month to month with no term, and the figure on the order page is the figure on every invoice until you change the build. There is no renewal step-up because there is no renewal. When two sockets stop being enough, four sockets go to 2 TB and EPYC puts 64 cores in each of two.

Want the newest generation? The D106 line puts two Xeon Gold 6330 (28 cores each) with 128 GB of DDR5 and the same mirrored pair at $675.58 a month, built to order in New York. It exists for the software that needs Ice Lake or Sapphire Rapids instructions; for everything else the two lines above do the same work for a third of the money. Hypervisor host

The largest group. Two sockets for threads, 128 GB as the sensible middle, a mirrored SSD pair for boot and guests. Proxmox VE 9 at no charge, VMware vSphere 7 and 8 on the form. Up to eight public IPv4 for the guests on the Xeon Scalable line.

Database

Memory for the working set, ECC so a flipped bit is corrected rather than committed, a controller cache that lets writes be acknowledged safely. The 24-bay controller takes RAID 10 across as many drives as the data needs.

Application back end

A SaaS API, a game back end, a broadcaster's origin, a VPN exit. Single tenant means the latency profile is yours; unmetered means the traffic bill is a port speed, decided once. One in ten of these runs 10 Gbps.

What does "enterprise" mean on this page?
A machine class, not a marketing tier. Two-socket HPE ProLiant BL460c blades (Gen9 on the Xeon E5 line, Gen10 on the Xeon Scalable line) with registered ECC memory, a Smart Array RAID controller with flash-backed cache and hot-plug bays, an HPE iLO console, and a hardware-replacement guarantee of four hours. It is the class of server built to run continuously, not the newest silicon.
Is this a physical server or a virtual one?
Physical, single tenant. The whole blade is yours: both sockets, every DIMM slot, the RAID card, the iLO console and the port. Nothing of ours runs on it, and you get root or Administrator plus console access.
What does the second processor cost, and when is it worth it?
On the order form the second socket adds between $7 and $16 a month depending on the model, and doubles the cores and the memory channels. It is worth it for hypervisors, databases and anything that runs many threads at once; it is not worth it for software licensed per core, where fewer, faster cores is the cheaper build.
How much memory can I have?
From 16 or 32 GB to 1 TB per machine, registered ECC DDR4, in rungs of 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 and 1,024 GB. 128 GB is the size most of our two-socket customers run. A terabyte is $409.60 a month on the Xeon E5 line and $512 on the Xeon Scalable line. The newest line takes DDR5 to 512 GB.
What storage and RAID do I get?
Two hot-plug bays on the blade's Smart Array controller, RAID 0 or 1, at no charge. A 6-bay or 12-bay controller adds $20.69 to $31.69 a month, and the Xeon Scalable line also offers a 24-bay controller with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10. Drives run from 500 GB SATA to 15.36 TB SATA-SSD and 30.72 TB SAS-SSD. NVMe is on our cartridge and rack lines rather than on the blades.
How fast is delivery?
About 30 minutes after the order clears review when a matching machine is racked, and 4 to 24 hours when we build it to your specification. Every blade is reinstalled with your chosen operating system either way.
What happens when a disk or a DIMM fails?
You tell us by live chat or phone, and the service level agreement guarantees the failed component replaced within four hours of that notification, with a credit ladder from 10% to 100% of the month if we miss it. Drives are hot-plug and RAID 1 keeps the machine running while the swap happens.
How many IP addresses can I have?
One IPv4 and one or two IPv6 addresses are included. The Xeon E5 line goes to 4 IPv4 (+1 for $6, +3 for $18 a month) and the Xeon Scalable line to 8 (+5 for $30, +7 for $42). More than that is a conversation with an engineer, not a form.
Is the bandwidth really unmetered?
Yes. The included 1 Gbps port is unmetered and nothing counts the traffic. Faster ports are priced as ports, not as traffic: 10 Gbps is $529 a month, 20 Gbps $1,629, and the Xeon Scalable line goes to 100 Gbps. How unmetered is priced.
Which operating systems and hypervisors can I install?
33 images from the order form: Ubuntu 14.04 to 26.04, AlmaLinux 8 to 10, Debian 10 to 13, Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2025 (Windows is a paid licence), VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7 and 8, and Proxmox VE 9 at no charge.
Is there a contract or a setup fee?
Month to month, no minimum term. None of the three lines carries a setup charge; 3, 6 and 12 month cycles take 5%, 10% and 15% off. Where an optional software add-on carries a one-off $29.99 it is itemised on the order page before you pay, never added afterwards.
Can the machine grow without a migration?
Yes. Memory, disks, a faster port and the second processor are added to the machine you already have, in the same slot, on the same address. No migration window and no rebuild. Moving an existing estate in from elsewhere is its own page: how a cutover runs.
