FAQ

Common questions about configuring Flash Media Live Encoder for live streaming with Server Room.

What should I use as the FMS URL?

Your FMS URL follows the format rtmp://accountname.srfms.com/live/. Replace accountname with your Server Room account name. Your full FMS URL is available in your Server Room welcome email and account dashboard.

Can I run two streams at the same time?

Yes. You can run two simultaneous streams by giving each a different stream name — for example livestream1 and livestream2.

What should my total bitrate be?

Your total bitrate is the sum of your video and audio bitrates. Make sure your internet upload speed can sustain the total figure shown in the encoder. For 720p streaming, a common setup is ~2500 kbps video + 128 kbps audio = ~2.6 Mbps upload required.

Why does Flash Media Encoder fail to connect?

Verify your FMS URL, stream name, username, and password are correct. Make sure your Server Room video service is active and no firewall is blocking RTMP port 1935. Contact our support team via live chat if the issue persists.
