Follow each step carefully to configure Nicecast for live audio streaming with your Server Room server. Nicecast supports both SHOUTcast and Icecast protocols.

Configure the server settings

Launch Nicecast. Open the server configuration window by going to Window → Nicecast Server. Configure the following:

  • Name — a label for your own reference
  • Server type — select SHOUTcast (Nicecast also supports Icecast 1 and 2)
  • IP address / DNS name — your Server Room streaming address
  • Port — your assigned port number
  • Password — your broadcast password

Add voice-over effect (optional)

Nicecast supports live voice-over, allowing you to mix live microphone audio with audio from an application such as iTunes. Access this feature from the Effects Window.

Configure voice-over input

After adding the Voice Over effect, configure your microphone input directly from the voice-over window to select your preferred audio input device.

Enable archiving (optional)

Nicecast can save your webcasts directly to MP3 files for later playback or editing. Configure archiving from the Nicecast Archiving window.

Start broadcasting

Once everything is configured, click the Start Broadcast button in the Nicecast Broadcast window to begin streaming to your Server Room server.

Where do I find my Server Room streaming address and password?

Your streaming address, port, and broadcast password are available in your Server Room account dashboard and in your Server Room setup email.

Which server type should I select — SHOUTcast or Icecast?

Select the server type that matches your Server Room plan. Nicecast supports SHOUTcast and Icecast 1 and 2. For Icecast, also enter your mount point.

Can I stream audio from iTunes or other Mac apps?

Yes. Nicecast can capture audio from any Mac application, including iTunes and Spotify. Select your preferred app as the audio source in Nicecast's main window.

Can I archive my broadcast to a file?

Yes. Use the Nicecast Archiving window to save your broadcast directly to local MP3 files at the same time as your live stream.
