FAQ

Common questions about setting up Microsoft Outlook with a Server Room POP3 email account.

Where do I find my incoming and outgoing mail server addresses?

Your POP3 incoming mail server and SMTP outgoing mail server addresses are available in your Server Room hosting control panel under Email Accounts. Contact our support team via live chat if you need help locating them.

Why should I use port 80 or 3535 for SMTP?

Many Internet Service Providers block the standard SMTP port 25. Using port 80 or 3535 as an alternative ensures your outgoing mail is not blocked by your ISP.

Does this tutorial work with Outlook versions other than 2003?

Yes. While the screenshots show Outlook 2003, the POP3 settings and the steps are very similar across Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, and later versions. The fields and options may be in slightly different locations but the values are identical.

What is SMTP relay and do I need it?

SMTP relay allows you to send email through a relay server. If you use smtpout.secureserver.net as your outgoing server, you must first activate SMTP relay on your email account via the Manage Email Accounts page. If your ISP allows direct SMTP, you can use your ISP's outgoing mail server instead.

Can I use IMAP instead of POP3?

Yes. IMAP keeps emails on the server and syncs across multiple devices, while POP3 downloads emails to your local computer. If you access your email from multiple devices, IMAP is the better choice. Contact our support team for IMAP server settings.
